exts speak of Imhotep as a minister of the powerful pharaoh Djoser c. 2980 BC. He was a famous physician and sage of Ancient Egypt and, as an architect, helped Djoser to build the celebrated 'step pyramid' of Saqqara.
He acquired a great reputation for his wisdom and learning. Much later, under the Ptolemies, he was adopted as the god of medicine.
