Khafre
2520-2494 BC
4th Dynasty

hafre was the fourth king of the 4th Dynasty, the son of Khufu, and responsible for the construction of the Great Sphinx at Giza.

Khufu, Khafre and Menkure were the builders of the three great pyramids at Giza. Each of these was connected by a long causeway to a valley temple on the bank of the Nile. The huge pillars of Khafre's temple are still visible, built from Aswan granite, and the Great Sphinx stands sentinel over the causeway, a symbol of the king's might.
