Sneferu
2575-2551 BC
4th Dynasty

neferu was the first king of the 4th Dynasty and fragments of the Palermo stone, engraved during the 5th Dynasty, record many of the events in his reign. These included successful raids on the Nubians and Libyans, plus the arrival of 40 vessels laden with timber from the forests of Lebanon. At Wadi Magharah in Sinai, copper was mined.

He was responsible for three pyramids and of these two are experimental in shape. They mark the transition from the step pyramid to the true pyramid shape seen in the third of his monuments. Of the three perhaps the most famous is the bent pyramid at Saqqara because of the angle change on the slope.
